Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — We Speak to Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver on the Red Carpet

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — We Speak to Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver on the Red Carpet

(12/18/2019)

The wait is over! A journey that began in 1977 with the release of STAR WARS comes to a close with the release of STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and a whole host of new and returning characters race to stop the First Order from unleashing a diabolical new plan that could destroy the entire balance of the Galaxy. We hit the red carpet at the premiere of THE RISE OF SKYWALKER to talk to the movie's cast.

"We all really love each other, and I do think that translates on the screen," Daisy Ridley told us. "So for us, it was really important — for me, John and Oscar, that we're together on this journey. And I think you feel that. You want to be part of the gang, and with Star Wars you always have."

Adam Driver reflected on the movie's themes. "It's about acquired family, found family and the family that you can't escape, and everyone's relationship to that." Billy Dee Williams, who returns to big-screen STAR WARS adventures, reprising the role of Lando Calrissian, says "It's a great adventure, but at the same time it touches on the whole question of good and evil — the question of dark and light outside of ourselves, but also the battle that we have within ourselves."

Anthony Daniels, who has played the golden protocol droid C-3P0 since the original STAR WARS debuted in 1977, talked about his final day on set. "I was a little sad on the last day on set, of course I was! I was leaving this gorgeous crew, a gorgeous cast, a gorgeous director and writer — and gorgeous 3P0. He's been a great companion all these years."
