R Rated Movies
In the MPAA rating system, R stands for “Restricted.” Although the MPAA is in no way tied to rule of law—again, it’s a set of suggestions—we use it as a way to set admittance guidelines for our theatres (as do many film screening entities across the country). This is especially true when it comes to R ratings. At Cinemark, no one under the age of 17 (18, in some states) is permitted to see an R-rated movie unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Also, so that adults can enjoy R-rated movies in a more adult atmosphere, children under the age of 6 are not allowed into any R-Rated feature after 6 p.m. A physical ID is required and IDs will be checked. (Digital ID’s will not be allowed.)
If the sun’s down, don’t be yuckin’ anyone’s yum with a young-un!
Bridesmaids (2011), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Get Out (2017) and Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) are all Rated R. Crass humor, bloody battles, scary monsters, minute-long make outs—everything’s on the table, and there’s not much of a limit. Be advised!
