PG Rated Movies
What Does “PG” Mean?
PG means “Parental Guidance.” It’s a gentle suggestion that adults consider some of the broader types of content that might be featured in a film before letting their kids go see it.
Why PG Movies Are Popular
Most family-friendly PG movies dominate today’s box office because they balance fun for kids with humor and themes adults enjoy. Although movies with PG ratings rarely contain extreme violence, suggestive themes, or coarse language, every movie is different. That’s why there’s a rectangular box directly to the right of each MPAA rating that sheds some—albeit still generic—light on what the picture might include, content-wise. The movie Elf (2003) is rated PG for “some mild rude humor and language,” for example. Parents should check rating details for guidance.
Examples of PG Rated Movies
Some popular PG movies include:
Frozen (2013)
The Incredibles (2004)
Moana (2016)
PG movies offer something for everyone—fun for kids and engaging for adults.
